From the ancient town of Derutra, long known for its ceramics and bella donna plates, Oliveri introduces Terzofoco – a new collection of handmade basins imported from Italy. The series juxtaposes traditional Italian ceramic methods with contemporary hues to embed style, indulgence and narrative into a space.

The Terzofoco bespoke ceramic basins are steeped in a colourful history that effortlessly translates as a beautiful inclusion for a bathroom or kitchen. The basins are imported from Deruta, Umbria – a picturesque region rich in clay soils that are ideal for ceramic manufacturing. Deruta is known as the capital of genuine Italian majolica, a highly decorative earthenware defined by enamel and bold decoration.

Oliveri has transported these techniques and styles into the 21st century with its latest range of premium artisanal basins. Bold and eclectic, the basins are highly organic in form, with both matte and gloss finishes available. They follow a simple design that highlights the basins’ functional nature and raw beauty.

The distinct finish of the basins derives from three specific firing processes: Raku Clay, Fire-clay and Refractory Clay. Raku Clay is firm and beautiful in its material imperfection, the small marks left by the fire leaving a unique impression on the surface. Fire-clay fires at a very high temperature for a particularly long cycle, resulting in an almost indestructible, non-deformable ceramic. Refractory Clay is strong, has low thermal expansion, exceptional abrasion resistance and is extremely heat-resistant so it will not deform or melt – ideal for large, durable stoneware.

The collection comes in a range of colours and finishes to complement Oliveri’s selection of tapware. These include: Red Clay; Olive and Salmon; Grey Ribbed; Olive Green; Natural Earth; Natural Earth and White; Matte Black; Natural Earth and Sage Green; and Light Earth.

An exercise in restraint and beautiful handcraftsmanship, Terzofoco by Oliveri offers a unique addition to any space. The range injects an artisanal quality that inspires awe and intrigue, allowing the traditionally overlooked basin to become a centrepiece.
