Opportunity Calls — The Design Coach’s 2024 Scholarship
The Design Coach is calling for applications for its 2024 Scholarship. The 12-month program will fast-track the career of a member of the design community, giving them access to TDC’s range of courses, classes and programs.
The Design Coach (TDC) is a collective of design professionals whose mission is to create a community for solo practitioners running small businesses in the fields of design and architecture. Through a range of online courses, classes, coaching programs and retreats, TDC aims to provide valuable insights into design processes, while demystifying the industry and encouraging balance and wellness.

“Now in its third year, the Scholarship Program is something I’m incredibly proud of,” says Andrew Mitchell, founder of TDC. “It’s our opportunity to give back to the industry by providing life-changing education and experiences to someone with the right mix of talent, attitude and aptitude.” The scholarship is open to designers working across all sectors, regardless of age, educational background or experience. “You might still be at university, or you may have been working in your business for more than 20 years,” he says.
It includes a ticket to TDC’s Business Bootcamp Program (launching in February 2024), which provides an excellent overview of the foundations of running a small business. Also included is the Premium Group Coaching Program, all Online Courses (including the new Kitchen Design Course), invitations to networking events, one-on-one coaching sessions with Andrew, registration to the organisation’s 2024 Melbourne Retreat, and business mentoring with 2024 Scholarship Program sponsor Halliday + Baillie. “In essence, we will provide the 2024 TDC Scholar with all the tools, techniques, systems and processes to equip them for future success,” Andrew says.
Previous scholarship winners include Amelia Barry of Melbourne-based Amelia Barry Interiors (2022 TDC Scholar) and last year’s winner, Olivia Pearce of New Zealand’s Undercurrent Studio, the first international recipient. For Olivia, the program was life-changing. “The scholarship couldn’t have come at a better time for me and my business,” she says. “We’ve noticed it’s had a huge impact, and our turnover has pretty much doubled. I feel I have all the tools in my belt, geared for whatever challenges are thrown at me. The courses and programs were packed with wonderful resources, which I’ll use throughout my career.”
To be eligible, you need to be a member of the TDC community (it’s free to join) and have a registered design business.
