A Timeless Appeal – Wood Fires by Scandia
Drawing on the timeless allure of the fireplace, Scandia wood fires inject ambience and warmth into a space. Defined by an understated luxury and sophistication, Scandia redefines the practical essence traditionally associated with fireplaces.
Inspired by the refined elegance of Scandinavian design and crafted for Australia’s very specific Antipodean conditions, Scandia introduces a suggestion of Nordic style and quality to Australian homes. By blending innovation and practicality with a considered approach to design, Scandia’s wood fires balance timeless appeal with the demand for modern finishes in a range of both traditional and contemporary wood fires. Each range simultaneously captures luxury, sophistication, simplicity and quality craftsmanship.
An emphasis on both form and function reveals itself in the depth and breadth of Scandia’s range, which includes over 14 styles, varying from sleek statement pieces such as The Edge to more time-honoured designs such as the Warmbrite range. For example, Scandiaʼs new Warmbrite Series 4 collection is a range of four beautifully crafted freestanding wood fires featuring classic steel design. Interior Stylist Heather Nette King says, “Scandia’s consideration for contemporary styling means that the wood fire can be styled to suit any architectural style or interior trend.” As such, there are designs for every home, Heather commenting, “the Helix and Edge models, with their inbuilt storage, would be a beautiful focal point in a contemporary coastal or farmhouse-style home; whilst the Avante, which is built into the wall, could be the perfect choice for an Alfresco or outdoor living space.”
Aesthetic versatility remains a central focus for Scandia, yet the brand’s range of wood fires also draws on innovative technology at all stages in the design process, which speaks to the multi-functional approach of Scandia’s wood fires. All products use the latest technology to create clean burning and efficient fires, with improvements constantly being made to safety, functionality and performance markers.
As such, sustainability is another key consideration in the design of Scandia’s wood fires. Not only is wood a renewable resource that can be regenerated when properly managed, Scandia employs additional sustainability measures. Heather comments, “Scandia’s combustion wood fires are all designed with a two-stage primary and secondary air system, which helps control the amount of emissions released into the environment. The primary air controls the rate of the burn, whilst the secondary air system hyper-heats any excess carbon, converting the majority of residual emissions into energy, which is then stored in the firebricks and firebox.” This process improves the overall efficiency of Scandia’s wood fires and minimises impact on the environment.
Scandia responds to the comforting ritual of a fire in a way that draws on the deep appreciation and consideration of place that fireplaces inspire. The end result is a simple yet sophisticated design that engages the senses and enhances the home.
