Zimmermann has been a beloved Sydney-born brand for over 30 years, growing from humble beginnings at the Paddington Markets to an astounding 110 stores across the globe. Now with the unveiling of its new boutique in Westfield Sydney, the fashion house is once again taking things to the next level.

The new store joyfully combines art, design and fashion with the innovation and flair that Zimmermann is so renowned for.

For Nicky Zimmermann, the label’s creative director and co-founder, this opening is a special moment. “Sydney is our home, so it’s incredibly exciting to unveil our new CBD boutique to our loyal clients,” she says. “It’s been a project we have been keen to pursue for some time, and it’s really unlike any boutique we’ve ever opened.” After 25 years in their previous space in Westfield, the new store joyfully combines art, design and fashion with the innovation and flair Zimmermann is so renowned for.

The design has been realised by long-time collaborators Studio McQualter. “We have worked with Don and his team at Studio McQualter almost since we started opening boutiques over 30 years ago,” she says. “The way we present our collections has always been very intentional… so working with someone who intuitively understands the interaction between client, product and environment is incredibly important.”

It acts as an extension of Zimmermann’s signature style: elegant and sophisticated, yet playful and welcoming.

At 357 square metres, the boutique is expansive yet warm, with a gorgeous residential atmosphere. It acts as an extension of Zimmermann’s signature style: elegant and sophisticated, yet playful and welcoming. “Studio McQualter brings each space to life in a way that feels unique to its location, yet distinctly Zimmermann. Their attention to detail is paramount across a mix of artwork, vintage and custom furniture and distinctive finishes.”

The facade – presented in rough-cast concrete render, handmade ceramic tiles and aged copper accents – offers a unique, textural contrast to the sleek marble floors of Westfield Sydney. A bold artwork by Fabian Brown Japaljarri of Tennant Creek Brio greets visitors before they step inside. Here, green Italian terrazzo flooring and high-gloss white walls span three retail areas showcasing the latest Spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection, Kindred Spirit. This collection captures the creative, collaborative spark of Lavender Bay artists in the 1970s – with voluminous, flowing silhouettes, psychedelic florals and retro flares updated with a contemporary spin.

One of the stand-out features of the boutique is its celebration of art.

The adjoining spaces are lush and intimate, bursting with colour and texture in layered artworks, terrazzo tiles and striped rugs. The private and luxurious appointment room is lined with gold-hued fabric and features a vintage armoire and Eero Saarinen animal-print chairs. The lounge area is luxurious and light-filled, housing stunning vintage pieces such as Saratoga sofas and Pierre Paulin ribbon chairs, all reflected in the mirror-panelled fitting rooms.

One of the stand-out features of the boutique is its celebration of art. “Art has always been a great source of inspiration to me and my work,” enthuses Zimmermann. “I love being surrounded by it, so sharing that experience with our clients through our boutiques is really special.” Visitors can find a curated mix of Australian and international artists throughout the store, including Matt Fearns, Curtis Jeré and Arwin Hidayat, who crafted a freestanding, sculptural wardrobe for the space.

At more than double the size of its predecessor, the boutique allows for a much more spacious, fluid shopping experience – and the feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. “The response has been incredible,” says Zimmermann. “It’s great to see clients ease into the space while shopping. Naturally, they have more fun… and try on more things.”
