About

The National Sustainable Living Festival is the celebration of moving forward in sustainable, everyday practices – the largest of its kind in Australia. Running for 3 weeks, the Festival seeks to inspire and empower everyday Australians to accelerate their uptake of sustainable living practices. Many of the Festival events have been developed by and are being held within local communities ranging from city and metropolitan locations to regional cities and rural towns. Having started in 1998, the festival includes a variety of educational tools including workshops, talks, demonstrations and exhibits as well as live performances and films.  The festival attracts over 150, 000 people each year with it’s mandate based on teaching attendees tools and practices that they can incorporate into their lives starting the next day.

Each year the Big Weekend is the flagship three-day event held at Federation Square, Melbourne, with The Green Market being a prominent part of this event.  The Green Market and showcases over 100 exhibitors offering sustainable home and lifestyle solutions, garden advice and gear, fair trade products, and local organic food. Visitors are encouraged to explore and be an active participant in the Festival’s rich and diverse program to make their initiative for the world come alive.
