From The Architects
Blandford, being Art Deco, is a heritage listed post-war house. The goal for the brief was to recombine three separate flats back into a single dwelling. In doing so, its character as built in 1948 would be recovered, while also adding a contemporary element complimenting the original style.
The front section of the house remained unaltered to a large extent. Rooms were rejoined via original doorways and refurbished instead of significantly changed. In doing this, room functionality was re-defined for present living patterns.
From The Architects
A double height addition was added to the rear, housing the main living spaces and linking the three previously different flats. The original home was recuperated and improved by featuring an upstairs section, a rear garden, and the less presented basement accommodation.
