Borenore Road House
by Pearson Architecture & Studio Senior
Borenore Road House, sits within an established garden with panoramic views to vineyards and orchards beyond. Located at the foot of Mt Canobolas, west of Orange, NSW, the house was designed by Pearson Architecture to embrace and connect with the existing gardens. The owners brief was for elegant minimalist exterior forms, opening into relaxed and welcoming interiors where the family, friends, dogs, and cats can all feel at home. Surrounded by vineyards and orchards, the high-altitude region of Nashdale is both warm and leafy through the warmer months and at times cold and harsh in the winter.
The hydronic heated concrete floors, carefully designed shade overhangs to glazing and thoughtfully detailed building connections all work to create a home which responds to these broad ranging climate conditions. The light filled, spacious interiors in collaboration with Studio Senior ensure the home is both relaxed and elegant. The palette is derived from the abundant fertile colours of springtime. Rich greens, textured marble and blackbutt timber are overlaid with playful touches of florals and pinks in the upholstery, soft furnishings, and art. Level changes, open shelving, and a sheltered courtyard centered in the offset floor plan create communal living areas which are at once separate and yet connected. A series of glimpses and framed views are set up as you move through the house, creating a variety of living areas for children and adults.
