Boundary House
by Ben Robertson & Mim Design
The Mid-Century Modern House. Architecture: Ben Robertson. Interior Design: Mim Design.
Boundary House by Ben Robertson & Mim Design was designed and created to push the boundaries of design and construction. The home is located on a narrow subdivision in the picturesque town of Brighton. It includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a pool house and spectacular roof terrace that offers amazing views of the ocean.
Ben Robertson & Mim Design overcame the distinct disadvantages created by working within a constrained space by pushing the house to the southern and northern boundaries, allowing the design to maximise the 11 meter wide site. A 2.5 meter level wall on the boundary conceals an architectural stair, and skylights become a provocative use of light. The robust tones and clean geometries support a considered floorplate with ultimate functionality.
