The clients came to us to extend and restore their existing family home. In line with sound heritage principles, we restored the old and contrasted with the new. The design respects the heritage facade, which contrasts with the contemporary forms at the rear. Clear focus on natural light, and a strong connection with outside. This was particularly important in communal kitchen, dining and living areasa. Old windows remain small, new windows wall to wall, ceiling to floor. Exposed structural elements in warm timbers to highlight the form. We value simple, detailed forms, executed with clean lines. The restrained palette of the interior reflects the raw, natural aesthetic of the design. This is complemented by the abundant natural light, the design of which has been carefully considered in line with passive principles.
