Crows Nest Residence
by Minosa Design
This stunning residence created by Minosa Design in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Crows Nest was originally a dilapidated two bedroom, timber clad, 1920’s heritage listed home in desperate need of saving.
Situated close to the city, cafes and schools the new owners believed it had great potential to be transformed into a magnificent family home. The home became known as ‘The Forever One’ as the client wanted it to become the home in which their family would grow and develop. The space had to cater to the family’s busy lifestyle and needed to do justice to the heritage of the old and the proposed modern architecture for the rear extension.
The arrival into the Crows Nest Residence can take your breath away. Upon entry one is immediately struck by the charming restoration work that has resurrected this lovely cottage. Period details abound within a modern context of today’s living requirements. As you progress through the home you are then greeted with a glass ceiling connection. At this point history stops and modern life begins. The space opens to a crisp, modern living area. The kitchen is unlike any other, a stand out piece of joinery that integrates the client’s’ desires of modern functional living.
The northern wall of the bathroom became the space for the beautiful bespoke vanity unit. Two large servo drive drawers are created below the incredible piece of solid walnut perfectly placed above. On this stunning piece of walnut is the incredible hand made ceramic bowl, a striking element that adds to this piece of furniture. To create balance to this bespoke piece of joinery the designer created to open box storage elements as a decorative area for items of joy. With the layout resolved and joinery created Minosa set about introducing the romantic elements, a towel ladder made from matching walnut to the vanity was hand made to old world style, a ornate picture rail capping was applied to the top of the large format oversized tile to the wall.
