Notre Dame University Student Hub Conversations
by Cox Architecture
This new Student Hub by Cox Architecture at the Notre Dame University in Freemantle cleverly engages students with the city.
Maintaining the heritage fabric of the building, designers from Cox Architecture created a space which tells a story of the building’s history, through a series of playful insertions into the space.
Creating zones which can be used and adapted for a variety of uses throughout, depending on the occasion.
Instead of an enclosed, voluminous hall, which had previously served the students, the new design now addresses the needs of the students, providing spaces for study anywhere and at anytime.
These spaces sit alongside flexible event and club spaces, reinforcing the University’s holistic approach to student centred learning.
The result is a friendly and welcoming space which explores the idea of open space with a modern industrial campus feel design throughout.
