Montrose Circa 1912
This stately Edwardian homestead is named the Montrose and was built Circa 1912. Situated on a superb garden allotment of some 735m2 the home remained in the same family for over 63 years and features high decorative ceilings, open fireplaces, leadlight and bay windows.
The current owners, who purchased the home in 2017, engaged Empire Interiors and Sketch Design to create a relaxed family abode that captured the essence of modern family living whilst still respecting the heritage history of the home.
A five bedroom, 3 bathroom family home was created and with the guidance of Empire Interiors a timeless selection of authentic materials was selected. Carrara marble is featured throughout because of its enduring simplicity and sense of relaxed luxury as well as honed limestone and washed oak.
Custom rattan and traditional shaker joinery elements are seamlessly combined with oversize steel doors and poured concrete surfaces in a dance of old and new.
A double-sided open fire is the hero of the open plan kitchen, dining, living spaces with the idea of casual family gatherings transitioning from inside to out.
