The design intent looked to honour the traditional elements of the existing workers cottage nestled in picturesque New Farm. The design brief was adapted to suit a modern way of living, where our client’s could seamlessly transition from work to play and the architecture would facilitate that process. Maintaining its quaint traditional front facade, quintessential of Brisbane’s vernacular, internally the architectural design boasts depth, volume, height and light melding traditional with contemporary. A timeless monochromatic scheme can be enjoyed within; the interior design softens through the use of light oak timber floors and joinery featuring New York marble, touches of off-form concrete, high level passive ventilation and lighting, finessed with our client’s elegant and playful decor. A generous living space has been designed to facilitate our client’s busy lifestyles achieving family engagement and privacy. A contemporary twist inspired in response to sub-tropical design can be viewed on the rear facade where deep eaves and sheltering blades create a home that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
