Ireland Brown Constructions were engaged as the head contractor to carry out the construction of the new Performing Arts Centre at Loyola College located at 325 Grimshaw Road, adjacent to Bungay Street, Watsonia.
This new and exciting Performing Arts Centre; which consists of a 500 seat auditorium theatre, back of house areas, dressing and control rooms, foyers, dance studio, music practice rooms and administration areas has been well designed to reflect the lifestyle of the arts community.
External works of the project included roadways, car parking proposed for 25 vehicles to the west of the Performing Arts Centre and a car park for 7 vehicles to the east, landscaping and associated site works.
The architectural design of the building has been created to incorporate many modern contemporary architectural finishes, including acoustic panelling, feature metalwork, glazed brickwork, bluestone paving, curtain walling and timber panelling.
The most technical elements of the project involved the extensive services and acoustic requirements to enable the required functionality of the building.
The end result of this design was a space filled with multiple character traits, which reflect the variety of performing personalities who wander through the halls.
