Mernda Central College
by Clarke Hopkins Clarke Architects
An elegantly fused education centre of industrial and modern contemporary design.
This newly designed college has been designed as part of the New Schools PPP Project, which involves the delivery of approx. 15 new schools across Victoria, located within both metropolitan and regional communities.
Mernda Central College is located on a Greenfield Site, adjacent to an existing community centre, and was created to support the developing vibrant school environment, becoming a key part of the local community.
Designed by Clarke Hopkins Clarke Architects, at the heart of the design for this campus, a Central Plaza was created to provide students with a place for learning, playing, sport and social interactions; whilst also facilitating a community use outside of school hours.
Conceived as a place in which students will want to attend both during and outside of school hours, and an educational hub for children of all ages, the whole school is a learning and teaching laboratory designed to support the social, physical and intellectual development of every student.
Designers incorporated a vibrant design for the architecture of this school; influenced by a modern industrial design, with burst of fresh and bright colours; like blue and lime green, to create a unique and buzzing environment for any ages.
Each space is filled with an abundance of natural light, and open spaces to compliment the modern industrial design, and colour scheme throughout – adding an interesting design palette throughout.
The result is a new and exciting learning centre for all ages, which can be enjoyed by anyone.
