The main challenge for the brief was developing an airy home on a south facing block. The solution was a twisted roof window that transforms from an almost flat skylight to a vertical window via steel angle progressions. These angles alter shadow and light into the main living area depending on the time of the day.

Oregon timber ceiling lining emphasizes the spatial aura of the skylights, as well as, warms and softens the reflected light on the concrete floor surface. New skylights were inserted in other parts of the house, with deep reveals that continue the theme of light and shadow. Externally, the roof window creates an asymmetric shape, which is draped in black metal and timber cladding contrasting the lightness of the interior.
