St Kilda House
by Taylor Knights Architects
As a celebration of multi-generational living, St Kilda House is conceived from a place of connection. We highlight Taylor Knights Architects approach to cohabitation within the one site, where elements of privacy and separation are carefully intertwined with communal central spaces for convening. Through the use of staggered brickwork, raw hand-polished steel and a refined palette, there is a sense of longevity in the overall approach, where the old and the new come together seamlessly. In respect to its original traditional heritage frontage, the extension is modest with a clear connection to context. Spanning across years and experiences between eras and generations, the language and design approach is clearly a reflection of this, allowing for expression throughout. St Kilda House shows the coming together of time, with an outward and timeless architectural look to time ahead.
