Vaker House sees an old house transformed into a Scandinavian and contemporary inviting home. With the use of muted colours, warmth has been injected into the zone by incorporating oaks, brushed brass, statement art and pendant lights.
This project was about creating a timeless design, with the finished elements working together in a functional, beautiful and cohesive flow. It was important to transform this run-down house into a beautiful home, reflective of Inventory Interior’s style. This project was inspired by Scandinavian and contemporary design. Using a soft tonal colour pallet, a sense of calmness was created using the warmth of oaks, textile textures, vases and decorative objects. Pendants and statement art works have been incorporated into this project to instantly lift the space, injecting colour and adding interest. When selecting furniture, Inventory Interiors opted for clean lines, soft curves and warm oaks. The most important renovation was the kitchen, which needed be beautiful, large, functional and minimal. When designing 5h3 joinery, Inventory Interior opted for integrated appliances to achieve a seamless clean look. Long cupboards were incorporated on one side of the kitchen, with all small appliances concealed inside. The fridge, dishwasher, range hood and bin are all also integrated. The two-toned kitchen with grey overhead cabinets and white bottom cupboards/doors creates soft contrast and interest in the zone. This colour pallet works well with the character of the overall home.
Michelangelo quartz covers the island, bench, window frame, barback and splash back for a seamless, clean and cohesive flow. The most striking feature is the long John pendant, while brushed brass shades tie back with the brushed brass tap. Nordic timber oak flooring was chosen to add to Scandinavian aesthetic. The space between kitchen island and the back bench is larger than your typical kitchen, creating a functional space for a house with small children. The Norman pendant for the dining space was selected to pair well with the soft archway and sculptural dining table.
