Introducing Kaufmann, a contemporary lounge chair paying homage to a mid-century master. Designed by Frag Woodall, the architectural forms of Kaufmann Lounge take reference from one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most esteemed architectural works, colloquially referred to as the ‘Falling Water’ house.
Inspired by the bold and dynamic forms found in Wright’s simple yet profound architecture, Kaufmann features a simple slab cut solid timber frame supporting a seat that provides deep comfort. Manufactured in Australia, the Kaufmann frame is available in American Walnut, American Oak, or black stained Oak with a durable Osmo oil finish.
Frag Woodall’s solid foundation in traditional furniture making and design led to an experimental and iterative process of exploring planes and volumes, in a similar manner to architectural form studies. A lounge chair often seeks to ground a space, working as a focal point from which other elements can play a complementary and supportive role, with this concept in mind Woodall developed a design language that extends from the Kaufmann side table to form a new collection with the Kaufmann Lounge.
