Living Box Console

Designer Vincent Van Duysen

Designed by Vincent Van Duysen, the Living Box transforms architectural grandeur into a functional household object. This independent piece, ideal for the living room, retains the rigour and monumentality of its architectural inspiration. Despite its compact size, it features high-quality materials and striking contrasts between the exterior and interior. The top, available in marble and various woods, is framed by a sleek iris or pewter metal profile, adding a touch of elegance. The interior, enveloped in Eucalyptus or Sunrise Oak, boasts curved internal corner covers and suffused LED lighting, creating a “magical cave” effect.

The Living Box is a low, spacious rectangular container without doors, designed to display or store items attractively. Its versatile design includes trunking for multimedia connections and can accommodate artistic or personal ornaments. For added functionality, elegant sets of drawers in iris and pewter or wood finishes can be inserted to conceal useful items. These self-standing drawers can be rearranged within the room, offering flexible configurations. Completing the system is the technical Tape container, designed specifically for video and Hi-Fi equipment, making Living Box a perfect blend of style, functionality, and modern living.

About The Designer

Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels. He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound. Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture. By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.
