3 Meeanee Quay
Set directly along the harbour’s edge in Westshore in Napier, New Zealand, this home by Architecture HDT is defined by its close relationship to water, light and horizon.
From the street, the architecture presents a confident yet measured form, gradually revealing a more expansive interior oriented towards the waterfront.
Architecture HDT organised the plan to prioritise outlook and flow. Living, dining and entertaining areas extend outwards to generous terraces, allowing the shifting coastal conditions to inform daily life. Full-height glazing draws natural light deep into the home, reinforcing a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces.
Materially, the residence is grounded in a restrained palette that balances durability with warmth. Timber, stone and refined finishes are layered throughout, creating a cohesive and tactile interior environment. Carefully resolved detailing and integrated joinery contribute to a sense of calm and permanence.
Through this considered approach, Architecture HDT has delivered a home that feels both expansive and anchored, a contemporary coastal residence shaped by clarity, proportion and an enduring connection to its waterfront setting.
