Maison de Panissou stands as a testament to the uncompromising architectural vision of Chris Gilbert, co-founder of globally celebrated firm Archier.
Set within an ancient forest on the foothills of Mount Wellington in South Hobart, this bespoke residence transcends traditional home design, embracing its natural context with poetic clarity. Crafted in close collaboration with its owners, Gilbert’s design reimagines family living through a series of breathtaking, fluid spaces that frame light, landscape and intimate moments.
Completed in late 2023, the home unfolds across a thoughtful 404-square-metre plan, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor realms. Expansive timber windows and sculptural double-height volumes harness northern light to illuminate artisanal finishes and considered detailing throughout. Every corner reveals a purposeful blend of work, rest, play and creativity, while the surrounding forest forms both backdrop and inspiration.
Maison de Panissou is more than a home – it is an immersive architectural experience that celebrates place, materiality and the transformative power of design.
