5 Palentino Place
Positioned within an established natural setting in Brown Hill, Ballarat, in regional Victoria, this residence by Eldridge Anderson Architects is conceived as a direct response to landscape, light and topography.
Rather than imposing on its site, the home follows the gentle fall of the land, adopting a composed form that integrates with the surrounding bushland and existing canopy.
At its centre, a landscaped courtyard becomes the organising element of the plan, drawing natural light deep into the interior while maintaining visual continuity across living zones. Expansive glazing reinforces this connection, framing views of established trees and allowing the external environment to remain constantly present.
Materially, the home is grounded in a robust and enduring palette. Masonry, polished concrete and timber joinery introduce warmth and texture, balancing durability with refinement. Spatially, the arrangement supports both gathering and retreat, offering a sequence of connected yet distinct zones suited to family life.
Through clarity of form and a restrained architectural language, the residence reflects Eldridge Anderson Architects’ commitment to creating homes that sit comfortably within their landscape, defined by longevity, simplicity and a strong sense of place.
