Snelling

Snelling is a multidisciplinary studio specialising in lighting, furniture, and objects, based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Established in 2007 as a collaboration between father and daughter Douglas and Bec Snelling, the studio is now led by Bec Snelling who continues to honour her father’s skill and attention to beautiful craftsmanship and materiality. Shaped by Bec’s formal training as a fine artist and her years of experience as a designer, their collections occupy the space that exists between sculpture and functional objects. Snelling’s pieces employ both traditional and contemporary manufacturing techniques, and are created using only the highest quality materials. Produced in collaboration with skilled local craftspeople, they are intended to be cherished and kept by families for generations. Snelling celebrates experimentation and innovation. They embody the designing and the making, the dreaming and the doing both.
