The Noon Collection
Melbourne, VIC, Australia
Australian designer Ross Gardam has recently announced his new 2017 Noon Collection. Drawing inspiration from the ‘passing of time’ the collective range of mirrors, tables and upholstered pieces are undergoing an exciting staged release. The completed pieces from the collection will be on display, along with a pick from their striking lighting range, at Design Made from 27-29 October. ‘Design Made’ is a 3-day Sydney event, showcasing Australian design brought about with the aim of demystifying the design process and so educating the broader Australian community about the importance of supporting original design. “Design Made has created a nice opportunity for us to meet with new clients in Sydney, and catch up with existing ones, which we probably don’t get to do as often as we would like,” says Ross. The Ross Gardam stand and new Noon Collection will be of interest to both industry and design-savvy public. Those that already know Ross Gardam furniture and lighting relish the well-designed and Australian handcrafted products. “Although our products are predominantly made in Melbourne, Sydney is a large market for lighting so I am really looking forward to showing our products during Design Made”.
The Noon collection was in development for over 12 months and involved some challenging design elements. The Noon Wall Mirror is graphic and bold with a striking combination of materials and primitive form. Framed in three alternating timber rings, the mirrors involved considerable design development, and combined great support from manufacturing partners. They come in three mirror finishes or a Noon Tri-combination, resulting in a unique and contemporary mirror emblazoning quality and design. The compelling ‘Tri-Cut’ configuration is certainly one to watch out for. The Noon Tables are graphic in nature and offer striking material combinations confined within an outer ring. The range brings lightness and balance to a collection of rich, cohesive materials. The table features a half leg intersecting with tabletop and involved numerous prototype versions to create the right level of tension between all surfaces. The tables come in a variety of finishes and frame colours, and the unique Noon Tri-Cut, showcasing different finishes seamlessly in unity.
Stylecraft represent all Ross Gardam products and lighting and will have the range of mirrors and tables in their showrooms in the coming weeks. All Ross Gardam lighting can also be purchased directly through their RG studio. A Noon rug will be available towards the end of the year, and the upholstered Noon pieces in early 2018. “Together I believe the range is very cohesive and looking forward to sharing the designs over the next few months.” Future plans for the studio in the short term are around the Noon collection release, a furniture collection ‘Adapt’ to be shared in the coming weeks, along with new lighting designs to be showcased in Milan, and ICFF in New York, in 2018. It sounds like there’s no time for rest. Ross Gardam is flourishing as an established Australian Designer and it’s with absolute enjoyment we continue to watch his emerging designs impress.
