Approachable Luxury – Beyond Apartments by Hallmarc
An inspired collaboration between GlobeWest and Hallmarc, Beyond Apartments in Melbourne’s southeast offers refined, attainable housing imbued with a sense of understated luxury. The recent project is located in Carnegie, Melbourne, a vibrant and up-and-coming area within close proximity to the city, shops, restaurants and a busy high street.
The new building delivers boutique apartments, which are built to rent with fully furnished, durable interiors. Business Development Manager at GlobeWest Kirsten Morris worked alongside Brittany Kennedy, Creative Director at Hallmarc and Lead Designer of Beyond Apartments, to make all the furniture selections for the project. The collaboration reflects the aligned values of Hallmarc and GlobeWest and the two brands’ long-lasting partnership. To reflect the considered, thoughtful and refined design of Beyond Apartments, “the furniture needed to reflect the quality and design sensibility of our apartments. We have been lucky to work so collaboratively with GlobeWest in creating spaces with a mix of their current collection and custom pieces, colours and fabrics unique to Beyond,” says Brittany. “They’ve got such a wide product range that they have everything you need.” Kristen comments, “this is our first built-to-rent project and the first time we worked on a project like this with Hallmarc,”
The brief for the project was to ensure there was a level of elevated luxury in the products that were selected for each of the apartments. “Each floor plan is slightly different, so it is really important to have differences across each apartment,” says Brittany. “We decided to settle on a couple of different colourways. We worked with a light and a dark scheme, which allowed us to make sure we had plenty of different options so the apartments would still appear unique and homey, regardless of the size of the apartment or whether it be a studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom [apartment].”
Interiors combine contemporary elements with traditional touches. “The apartments are quite cool toned, with a lot of the joinery dominated by grey, black and white,” says Brittany. This is offset by more traditional features such as herringbone flooring, detailed skirting, architraves, walnut timbers and soft upholsteries, which add warmth, comfort and a somewhat European aesthetic. The furnishings are fairly neutral, with natural tones and pops of colour throughout. “A lot of furniture has also been customised [by GlobeWest], which is amazing as it means we are able to get exactly what we wanted,” notes Brittany.
For GlobeWest, Beyond Apartments is the first time the brand has completed a fit-out of this scale, while for Hallmarc, Beyond Apartments signifies a new chapter stepping into boutique built-to-rent projects. Moreover, the project represents an exciting step for both GlobeWest and Hallmarc, who have worked together for the past decade and look to continue to forge a strong relationship built on shared values and aesthetics. “Collaborating with GlobeWest is only fitting due to our existing relationship, which will now move forward into the future,” notes Brittany. Delving into projects of this scale with such a high level of elevation and customisation – specifically built-to-rent projects where products need to be premium, durable and affordable – reveals the innovation and capabilities of GlobeWest and Hallmarc. Designing a carefully curated, fully furnished space characterised by sophisticated design elements and furniture reflects the quality Hallmarc is known for.
Beyond Apartments encapsulates approachable luxury. The end result is a positive collaboration, a curated and versatile building, and a variety of spaces that feel refined yet homey.
