Perched on the Port Kembla headland, 90 minutes south of Sydney, Dovers Drive enjoys expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and champions sustainable materials.

“Port Kembla is known for its iconic beaches and strong, diverse community,” says Fabian Ciguenza, director of construction at Allara Building Co. “The main vision for Dovers Drive was to frame views of the ocean and create an external facade that ties into the rugged landscape.” Circulation is also prioritised, with the transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces carefully managed for effortless coastal living.

With their extensive knowledge, the Cosentino team were engaged to assist in colour selection and placement.

To foster visual flow, Cosentino’s Dekton surface is applied consistently: on the floor of the main living area, in the bathrooms, across the bar, courtyard, alfresco dining area and by the pool. Formed under 25,000 tonnes of pressure, the surface is also equipped to support the weight of cars in the garage. In addition, Dekton remains carbon neutral throughout its life cycle – made with 100% renewable energy and 99% recycled water, it embodies sustainable craft. “From a builder’s perspective, we really appreciate the durability and longevity of the product, as well as the peace of mind it gives the homeowner,” says Ciguenza. “The team from Cosentino came to the site several times throughout the installation process to make sure that everything was done to the highest possible standard.”

With their extensive knowledge, the Cosentino team were engaged to assist in colour selection and placement. “We chose two different colours – Albarium and Argentium – which are both part of our Kraftzium collection,” says Barbe Dolan, senior design sales manager at Cosentino Australia. “Albarium is reminiscent of Venetian plaster and Argentium offers a soft grey tone, so we used Albarium on the floor downstairs and Argentium on the walls and floors of the bathrooms.” The large format of the tiles allows the gaze to sweep across the home and for residents to appreciate the generous proportions of each space. In the primary bathroom, the product works in combination with a freestanding bathtub to create a spa-like experience where attention is drawn to the view. The tiles also accommodate surface movement, enabling a custom turntable to be installed in the garage.

“High-end design is moving towards sustainability, personalisation and high-tech integration,” says Dolan, “and we are responding to that.” Through the collaborative efforts of Allara Building Co, Cosentino and the homeowners, Dovers Drive emerges as a seamless coastal home.
