Owner and Creative Director of The Palm Co, Nat Spada reflects on running her growing business and how to remain relevant and accessible in the online space. Speaking from her home on the NSW South Coast, Nat reflects on how her Squarespace site showcases her work, inspires others and ultimately allows her business to continue to evolve.

The Palm Co is a boutique interior styling and photography studio based in Sydney. Since its inception seven years ago, The Palm Co has been styling and capturing beautiful homes for editorial, commercial and social media platforms. “We are basically the icing on the cake when it comes to the last stage for interior designers, architects and builders who have spent months, sometimes years, working on these projects,” reflects Nat. “We come in and capture the finished product at its best so they can feel proud of their work.”

When discussing her creative process, Nat notes, “it varies for each job. Generally, we do a site visit, book in the shoot, walk around with clients, and then set up and get stuck into it.” Nat continues, “my approach to styling is really about staying true to what the space is, which means I get a lot of inspiration from the space itself.” As such, Nat favours earthy or neutral colour palettes and a lot of textural and sculptural pieces so as to complement the designer’s work rather than distract from it.

Considering the highly visual nature of the industry The Palm Co sits within, Nat details the importance of website design and choosing a platform that can aptly showcase her business’s work. “I chose to build my website with Squarespace because the templates are really aesthetically pleasing and super easy to use. There’s a lot of variation to them, but you can add your own personality and flare and make it a bit more custom to your brand,” comments Nat.

The usability and accessibility of Squarespace allows Nat to constantly update the site with the latest client work, enabling The Palm Co to stay relevant and front of mind. Similarly, Squarespace is highly practical. “My Squarespace website plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of my business – it’s where all my enquiries come through, has great capabilities to showcase my work and clients’ work, and houses all my prices and packages,” she notes.

In this way, Squarespace ultimately helps The Palm Co achieve more of what they love doing and creates a space for people to come to find inspiration for their own homes. Nat reflects, “my business has evolved massively since I started it, and I can only see my business growing even more with Squarespace.”
