Having received original designs and concepts from Lawless & Meyerson, Destro Renovations modified the initial proposals in consultation with the clients to craft a functional everyday space. Through detailed and significant changes, the completed kitchen supports the processes that define residential life for the clients, enabling ease of movement whilst still embodying the personal interior style of the residents. The Blum storage solutions subtly echo the colour dynamic between the timber cabinetry and the detailed splashback, forming its own luxurious grey counterpoint to the warming timber.

“The main change from the architect’s original plan is the use of the AVENTOS lift systems over the cooktop section,” explains Destro Renovations Director Daniel Destro. “The initial design called for a centre panel over the cooktop and two equal doors either side of that. However, the overall size of this run is 3800 millimetres, so when [the clients] were at my showroom, I showed the AVENTOS option and advised that this would look the best and work well.” This intimate knowledge of Blum’s product range allows Destro Renovations to tailor bespoke solutions for each client’s needs and interiors. “It meant I could also line up the horizontal line with the fridge and pantry cabinets,” he adds.

The kitchen space also features Blum’s SPACE TOWER and LEGRABOX box system, in Orion Grey matt to seamlessly suit the home’s palette. Embodying convenience by placing everything within reach, SPACE TOWER can be selected with individually designed pull-outs of wide, high or deep character. With access to the full-extension pull-outs from all three sides, each has a load-bearing capacity of up to 70kg. Paired with SPACE TOWER solution is LEGRABOX. Functionally smooth, LEGRABOX is a commanding innovation in the realm of interior systems, with straight edges measuring 12.8 millimetres wide; in virtue of their slimline features, the drawers take on a sense of elegance that extends to everyday use. Destro Renovations uses both SPACE TOWER and LEGRABOX in almost every project, driven by the effortless nature of their installation and smooth operation for residents.

Blum SERVO-DRIVE is also used throughout the kitchen; the opening and electrical support system enables the residents to access drawers with a single touch to the front, with soft-close BLUMOTION managing the acoustic impact. Similarly, SERVO-DRIVE uno is used for the bin application and can be activated by a touch with the knee or hip, allowing access to pull-outs without the involvement of hands – as such, the system prevents the spreading of germs via handles.

“All Blum products are engineered well, are great to work with and long lasting,” Daniel reflects. Adding that the reason the brand’s products feature in Destro Renovations projects so often is “mainly for ease of install and longevity”.
