Purity and Precision – Lune Croissanterie Armadale by Ewert Leaf
Void of all visual noise, Lune Armadale builds on the brand’s purity and precision, offering a space more reminiscent of a gallery than a traditional bakery. Brought to life by Ewert Leaf, Lune’s fourth retail space continues to celebrate croissant making.
Lune has built a reputation over the years for creating world-famous croissants – just take one look at the size of its queues. But for the team, croissants are more than just pastry; they are a celebration of complexity, nuance and enjoyment. This same dedication and precision flows into Lune’s physical spaces, and the latest Armadale store is no exception.
Each individual Lune croissant is handmade by artisans and represents creativity, fastidious attention to detail and innovative thinking. So, naturally, these themes were unpacked and crafted into a curated interior that focuses on framing each and every pastry. Just as the Lune practice of baking breaks with traditional methods and makes way for progressive thinking and ingenuity, Ewert Leaf has imprinted this same approach into the design.
Those who interact with the space will no doubt feel the same curiosity and intrigue as when biting into one of the flaky croissants. Set beneath a luxurious apartment building, the store itself is defined by an opulent choice of materials, a brutalist aesthetic and textured surfaces – while the relationship between each element is meticulously explored and questioned. Weathered-brass features are scattered throughout, as display pastries sit atop a slab of poured concrete that is the store’s counter.
