Queenstown Country Club by Warren and Mahoney

Queenstown, New Zealand

Revitalising what it means to age in place, Queenstown Country Club is nestled upon a 51-hectare estate located between Lake Hayes and the Shotover Country neighbourhood. Designed by Warren and Mahoney, the Queenstown Country Club comprises over 230 private villas and apartments, a rest home and specialist dementia care; however, the similarities to traditional care facilities end there. Connected through laneways and courtyards, Warren and Mahoney inspires a community spirit, where those looking for a graduated style of retirement living can enjoy a lively civic space, retail centre, cafe, gym and pool, florist, pharmacy, hair salon and boutique bar, as well as a clubhouse and medical centre. The country club is the first of its kind in the Wakatipu Basin, offering a place that enables retirees to remain in the region where they have established their lives. Embracing individuality for each home, Warren and Mahoney’s design has allowed for the tastes of the owner to shine through, where the gabled and pavilion-styled exteriors create a picturesque community that fits into the alpine environment for those wanting to grow in place.

The Grace Albert Park by Fender Katsalidis

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Offering a luxury high-rise apartment complex centred around enabling residents to age in place, The Grace by Fender Katsalidis changes how retirement living is conceived and experienced. Focusing on creating a community for retirees who want to remain in the inner-city, The Grace Albert Park maximises natural light and views of Albert Park Lake and Melbourne city, allowing for residents to stay connected to families and modern city living. Encouraging engagement, a variety of services and amenities – including an artist’s studio, wellness facilities and a theatre – are offered. Putting a focus on the wellbeing and connection of those residing at The Grace, Fender Katsalidis’s design ensures that residents can remain in their homes throughout the later stages of their lives. This will be further supported by a forthcoming aged care and assisted living facility that will provide the structure for a continuum of care.
