Martha Cove House

The Martha Cove House by Webster Architecture & Interiors is an architecture and interior design project located in the exclusive Melbourne water side suburb of Martha Cove.

The home is located within the Martha Cove development site at Safety Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, adjacent to Mount Martha. This particular site is situated perfectly on the waterway, complete with a north facing backyard and stunning waterfront views.

The client wanted Dan Webster to maximise the warming northern light and accentuate the stunnings views of Mouth Martha. The chosen concept explored the idea of giving every habitable room a north facing window featuring a view of Mount Martha. This is where the stepped form along the north and western facades was derived from.

Geometric architecture played a major role in the final design of Dan Websters Martha Cove House. After visiting the site and conversing with the client Dan derived the final angles of the homes slanted design. All habitable rooms within the Martha Cove House feature an angled wall of 22 degrees to maximise the views north. The final product in a modern home that derives true beauty from its natural surroundings.

The striking architectural form is accentuated by the cantilevered first floor that is located above the pool. This gives the perception that the main bulk of the house is coming forward towards the water, whilst at the same time the rear wall of the kitchen, dining and living spaces has a more held back feel.

The interior design of the residential home was created by Dan Webster. Dan wanted the interiors to highlight the modern exterior of the Martha Cove House. The interior design was heavily derived from the stunning views that surround the home with each room adopting an open plan feel that helps maximise light in the building.
