The Ameila Shaw Bar
by Danielle Brustman
The Amelia Shaw Bar by Danielle Brustman is a hospitality interior design project in the heart of Melbourne’s hipster suburb of Brunswick.
Danielle Brustman’s design was inspired by the care free rebellion of 1960’s Californian society. Her design encompasses the spirit of American design and echoes the essence of a hot summer’s pool party. The bar features all the art deco grandeur and vintage elegance associated with the era of great transition. Danielle’s design vision is located upstairs at the Retreat Hotel and is named after the hotel’s first 1842 female licensee.
Danielle viewed the project as a culmination of her interest in the idiosyncratic and theatrical in her design practice.
Danielle has placed hand-painted geometric murals that offer an insight into a forgotten era of design. The remainder of the bar consists of an eclectic array of unconventional vintage pieces – such as 1960s Japanese hotel lobby light fixtures.
Through her breathtaking interior design brilliance Danielle Brustman has tansformed a space with genuine retro authenticity – a rare acheivement in today’s design industry.
