Studio McQualter has brought its refined, layered approach to interior design to St Agni’s latest retail destinations, crafting two distinct yet intimately connected spaces in both Melbourne and Sydney.

Led by creative director Don McQualter, the studio is known for its ability to balance modernity with warmth – an ethos that aligns seamlessly with St Agni’s signature minimalist aesthetic. The new stores, located in Armadale and Paddington, are expressions of spatial restraint, material richness and a carefully honed interplay between contemporary elements and vintage finds. Each reflects its surroundings while remaining deeply connected to St Agni’s design DNA. The result is a pair of spaces that feel inherently personal – an evolution of retail that moves beyond transaction into experience.

In both Armadale and Paddington, Studio McQualter has created retail environments that feel both personal and transportive, speaking to St Agni’s ethos: understated, refined and quietly bold.

St Agni’s first Melbourne store is an apartment-like sanctuary set along High Street in Armadale. A study in quiet luxury, the monochromatic facade pairs deep rust tones with heritage red brick, a palette that honours the building’s original materiality while introducing a modern sensibility. Inside, a carefully considered use of gloss paint, mirrors and glass amplifies the natural light, creating an interplay of reflectivity that enhances the space’s sense of openness.

The design is immersive, evoking the feeling of stepping into a dream apartment – one where every piece belongs, every texture is intentional and every corner is imbued with a sense of ease. The clothing is displayed with the same level of restraint as the interiors, reinforcing a connection between product and place.

In Sydney’s Paddington, the new Glenmore Road boutique takes on a more playful identity with its own sense of character. The deep, glossy storefront hints at what’s inside – a retail space that feels both intimate and inviting. Mirrored surfaces and high-shine finishes reflect light in unexpected ways, giving the space an ever-changing quality throughout the day. While the store shares a minimalist foundation with its Melbourne counterpart, it carries an air of spontaneity, a subtle nod to the energy of Sydney’s fashion and design scene.

Studio McQualter’s approach to St Agni’s new stores extends beyond aesthetics. In both Armadale and Paddington, the team has created retail environments that feel both personal and transportive, speaking to St Agni’s ethos: understated, refined and quietly bold. Through a balance of raw materiality and polished restraint, the stores offer more than just a place to shop; they invite visitors to linger, to engage and to feel at home within the brand’s world.
