Guri Chair
Akaba’s Guri office chair – available exclusively in Australia through Stylecraft – blends meticulous ergonomics with refined European aesthetics.
Defined by softness, form and adaptability, the Guri chair by Ander Lizaso for Spanish maker Akaba offers a subtle elegance that merges ergonomics with timeless design. Now available at Stylecraft in Australia, Guri lends itself effortlessly to workplace, hospitality, educational and public settings.
Designed to contribute to the comfort of environments, Guri is a versatile piece with presence and character. A generously curved backrest flows into a contoured shell, balanced by the relative verticality of the back, a form that nods to modernist lines. Its contours are refined, its structure quietly sculptural and there’s a sense of ease in its proportions, as if the entire seat were drawn in a single, fluid stroke.
Guri is the result of a deliberate pursuit of softness – visual, physical and emotional. Its enveloping shell provides ergonomic support while maintaining a restrained, architectural elegance. Moulded from a single piece of polypropylene reinforced with fibreglass, Guri is both lightweight and robust. The shell is available in a palette of contemporary tones, including Bordeaux, Terracotta and Mint. Two of the hues, Green Beige and Light Brown, comprise 100 per cent recycled materials. This colour choice enhances Guri’s adaptability across a variety of interiors, from minimalist workspaces to more expressive hospitality environments.
Whether arranged around communal tables or repeated across open-plan zones, Guri adapts fluidly to context while maintaining a clear design identity.
The chair is offered in a variety of base options, including four-leg timber or steel, sled, castor and swivel configurations. It is also available in stackable and non-stackable formats, offering further flexibility. Whether placed individually in quiet corners, arranged around communal tables or repeated across open-plan zones, Guri adapts fluidly to context while maintaining a clear design identity.
Guri reflects Akaba’s deeply human-centred philosophy, born of a company established in 1986 by three young entrepreneurs in the Basque region of Spain. From the outset, its mission was to produce furniture by Spanish designers for the international stage, with inclusivity and community at the core. Expressed through the idea of ‘motion and emotion’, this ethos was shaped by a time and place marked by non-conformity and social change, and it continues to shape the company’s identity, inspiring a design language grounded in innovation, collaboration and craftsmanship.
Stylecraft has partnered with Akaba since 1995, the same year the esteemed Australian brand opened its first Sydney showroom, marking a longstanding connection between shared values and design excellence. In its materiality, proportion and intention, Guri is a piece that feels contemporary, timeless and inviting, shaped by the way we gather, work and live today.
