The Streaks Range Extended
After a successful launch to market in 2025, architectural hardware innovator Bankston is extending the YSG-designed The Streaks range.
Leading Australian architectural hardware brand Bankston has added four new designs to The Streaks collection, created in partnership with Yasmine Ghoniem of renowned Sydney architecture and design studio YSG. Launched at the 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen in June 2025, the original collection comprised door levers, pulls and joinery pieces enlivened with contrasting bands and stripes (‘streaks’) that mimic the natural wood grain.
“The Streaks is what happens when you marry perception-challenging design with the unadulterated beauty of timber,” Bankston co-CEO Steve Bradley said of the original range. “Yasmine pushed us to step outside our comfort zone, playing with bold contrasts, unexpected material pairings and new production methods. We feel that each piece in The Streaks is like a little personality in itself – bold, cheeky and full of energy. It’s a reminder that great design isn’t just about form and function but about having fun along the way.”
The four new additions complement the existing range’s signature striped timber bands and playful experiments with scale, and enhance its versatility for both residential and commercial applications. They include two sliding door additions and two DDA-compliant solutions – a return lever and accessibility privacy turn.
“Melding intrepid design with enduring functionality, the pieces feature solid expressions of naturally coloured timber enriched by a niche Patinated Bronze selection,” says Emily Bradley, the company’s co-CEO. “The Patinated Bronze has a dark, mercurial finish that alchemises over time to a golden glow across its touch points.”
Compliant with the Australian Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), the pieces reflect both Bankston and YSG Studio’s commitment to design without compromise. “They are intuitively functional for people living with disabilities,” Emily says, “making them a stylish solution for everywhere from hotels, cafes, bars and restaurants to workplaces and public spaces.”
The Streaker Accessibility Privacy Turn is a secure solution for interior door locking, cast in solid bronze and available with roses in three timber finishes.
The Straight Streaker Return Door Lever incorporates a return feature that enhances its grip functionality, and is available in Light Band, Dark Band and Colour Band iterations, on top of the Patinated Bronze finish. The Streaker Accessibility Privacy Turn is a secure solution for interior door locking, cast in solid bronze and available with roses in three timber finishes.
Meanwhile, the Flash Sliding Door Privacy Turn Kit features a metallic star encased in three different circular timber enclosures – American White Ash, American Walnut and African Padauk. The Flash comes with a matching Patinated Bronze edge pull, latch, faceplate and striker. Finally, there’s the Streaker Sliding Door Edge Pull, which sits flush against the edge of a sliding door and pairs two elongated triangular shapes that encourage the fingers to pull.
“We hope the new additions boost usability across all design sectors.”
For designer Yasmine Ghoniem, the success of The Streaks reinforces her strong belief that Australian-made and -designed architectural hardware holds its own against global equivalents. “It’s impressive to see how Bankston’s collaborative ranges are fast replacing the need for design-conscious Australian homeowners, architects and designers to acquire hardware products predominantly from abroad,” she says. “And we hope the new additions boost usability across all design sectors.”
