SABI
Through considered craftsmanship and advanced production methods, SABI has redefined pet products, creating design-led pieces grounded in brutalist architecture.
In recent decades, humans’ relationships with their pets have evolved significantly. The days of the family dog sleeping on the deck, no matter the weather, have long gone as pets have increasingly become core members of the family, central to day-to-day life. It’s a shift that inspired Nicholas Gala and Antonio Inzitari to establish SABI, a brand dedicated to redefining pet products as curated elements of modern living.
“The goal and intention behind every one of our pieces is that when it’s placed on the floor, it should feel instantly at home,” Gala explains. “SABI’s pieces are crafted not just to be practical but also to embody a fusion of innovative design and refined craftsmanship.”
It’s pet care reimagined: where pet bowls are no longer simply domestic utilitarian items but artful expressions of a thoughtfully designed lifestyle. “We approached creating these objects as if we were designing furniture,” Inzitari says. “And this led us to define a new category we call pet furniture – architectural, tactile objects that integrate seamlessly into the home and are built to last.”
Replacing the pet products we buy – which are inevitably disposable – with architectural objects embedded with longevity is at the core of the SABI offering. “They are designed to integrate with interiors, complement spatial aesthetics and support the daily rhythm shared between humans and their animals,” Inzitari says.
The first expression of SABI’s pet furniture ethos is the Béton Collection, sculptural bowls and leather feeding mats inspired by brutalist architecture. The former consists of a weighted concrete outer vessel – in either classic concrete, charcoal or sandstone colourways – that holds a double-walled, stainless-steel bowl with a silicone base, completing the piece with quiet material contrast. Subtle shifts in tone and texture make every Béton piece unique.
“The vessels are more akin to a small plinth or basin than a typical pet product,” Gala says. “In both plan and elevation, they are calm, strong and assured, anchoring the ritual of feeding.”
Complementing the bowl is the elegant Saffiano leather mat, crafted from Saffiano leather and available in timeless black or taupe. Together, they form a new generation of pet accessories, pieces that integrate effortlessly into contemporary living spaces, enriching the lives of both pets and their owners and acknowledging the emotional connection of the human-animal bond.
