Located in Willoughby on Sydney’s leafy Lower North Shore, Cobar House by premium home designer and builder Numia was created for modern family living. From the curvilinear architecture to the intricately detailed interiors, the home encapsulates  elegant contemporary minimalism.

The high level of visual continuity throughout the home is the result of extraordinary technical coordination behind the scenes.

Central to the project’s success was Numia’s collaborative approach, which brought all trades into the conversation early on. Victoria Pirrello, general manager and creative director of  VICELLO, describes the experience of working with Numia as one underpinned by openness and trust. “What really stood out about the collaboration with Numia was their receptiveness to feedback and the mutual respect of inviting us in to have a shared view,” she says. The open dialogue allowed for a smooth process and flawless result across every stage of construction.

The home’s bespoke joinery, crafted by VICELLO, extends far beyond cabinetry, encompassing integrated elements that intersect with almost every trade – from fireplaces and subframes to HVAC systems, windows and door jambs. The high level of visual continuity throughout Cobar House is the result of extraordinary technical coordination behind the scenes. For example, the integration of appliances and concealed pantries in the kitchen required expert planning and precision at frame stage. “The junctions between each material were absolutely seamless,” Pirrello says. “We wanted the joinery to tie in with the architectural details, which were contemporary.”

“The stone is the hero, and then there is the Perugian Walnut, which is timeless, rich and luxurious.”

Materiality is key to this sense of luxury, particularly in the kitchen where stone from CAV’ART Designer Stone is the showstopper. Acquarella, a striking Brazilian quartzite, was chosen for its subtle violet and green undertones and bold, stormy veining. Applied across the kitchen island, splashback and rangehood – as well as the powder room’s integrated vanity and sink – it adds movement and depth while also being incredibly durable. “This natural stone is both beautiful and functional and elevates this home,” notes Nathan Karpenko, managing director of CAV’ART.

Complementing this statement stone is the cabinetry in Perugian Walnut Woodmatt from Polytec. Rich and tactile, it brings out the cooler, purple tones of the quartzite. “The client really wanted something that was bold and not necessarily on trend,” says Pirrello. “The stone is the hero, and then there is the Perugian Walnut, which is timeless, rich and luxurious.” The cabinetry was further elevated by bronze pulls from Lo & Co, which add an elegant finishing touch.

Beyond the kitchen, a restrained material palette continues throughout the home, with lighter oak-toned joinery and soft finishes providing a contrast to the darker cabinetry. Gentle curves define each space – from the incredible sweeping staircase to the monolithic onyx bathtub – echoing the architectural forms of the facade. Stylist Claire Delmar’s selection of vintage furnishings, gorgeous glassware and Japanese ceramics adds further warmth and sophistication, alongside textural, abstract artworks by André de Vanny and Morgan Stokes.

What makes Cobar House so exceptional is the precision in every detail – from the gorgeous, curated furnishings to the perfectly executed joinery. What feels calm and effortless is, in fact, the product of rigorous collaboration, technical mastery and a shared commitment to quality.
