Welcome to North Sydney’s first rooftop bar! Redwah Interior Design Studio worked in close collaboration with architect John Cochrane and builders Erilyan to provide the Green Moustache with a curious and playful hospitality design. The concept included space planning, design direction flooring, RCP layouts, all finishes and detailing docu-mentation, as well as FF & E selections and styling.

Street appeal was essential to the multi-level bar design, with natural light a key element in its construction. Free-flowing areas for dining, relaxing and small functions allowed separation of various areas while at the same time blurring them seamlessly into one venue. The open yet intimate space uses a variety of existing and natural materials, in addition to custom design work. These materials form the base of the colour palette, which is subtle and warm with pops of vibrant colour.

The dramatic existing glazed façade sets the basis for the creation of this exceptional venue, with robust finishes used to provide texture, movement and fun throughout the design. A custom floor mosaic tile was introduced to the outside spaces and terrazzo-look floor tiles cut to create a uniquely patterned floor. ​The existing lift and stair shafts were clad in contemporary brick veneers, while mirrored corridors playfully reflect the various lights and people on their way to the bathrooms. To reduce the noise made by the exquisite hard floor finishes, timber slatted acoustic ceilings were specified in some areas.

Throughout the space, large-scale wall bracket lights form a feature and add to the contemporary hospitality design. Interior design details such as the green granite with brass inlay bar tops by Crank Furniture and the printed pattern table tops by Baresque reinforce the oasis feeling, while touches of neon add a little fun and a sense of play. Assorted plant life complements this greenhouse-like structure, with landscaping by The Greener Pathway and faux hanging plants from Florabelle providing the alfresco escape diners are looking for.

An inspiring addition to the North Sydney skyline, the Green Moustache is the perfect place to relax with a cocktail and sample the local produce on offer. Nestled above the busy streets, it provides many viewpoints from which to savour the experience – all in the comfort of this innovative glasshouse bar design.
