202 Mountainview Road was formerly the site of a modernist residence, an architectural style that is famously prevalent throughout the Briar Hill streetscape. This attribute has informed DKO’s design intent for Jardine, which exhibits various characteristics typical of this movement. Having emerged in the 1920’s, modernism is synonymous with the phrase ‘form follows function’, meaning the purpose of the design comes first and the form is born from this. As depicted in the iconic residences pictured, modernist buildings typically showcase asymmetrical compositions; clean lines, large windows, visual expressions of structure and open plan living spaces. Interiors tend to exhibit custom features, split levels, ample timber and minimal ornamentation. Jardine embraces many of these ageless principals and interprets them in a way that is sympathetic of the area’s unique natural landscape.
