We find the design such a unique take on a traditional garage/ outbuilding.
Its definitely a growing trend across Melbourne, with limited space and a ever growing design culture; people don’t view their garages as purely for the car anymore. They are required to be multi use spaces which also compliment the home. Clients want to be be able to smartly store things, have the ability to entertain (more so for the teenager children), or with the current climate have the
ability to utilise a home office all whilst not foregoing style.
I mean who wouldn’t want this particular one as there backyard backdrop!
Finishes:
External:
Axon cladding used as shadow clad for the 30 x 30 timber LOSP battens painted in night sky. Interior fit out details:
Oiled Plywood with shadow joins – We painted the shadow joins prior to installing the plywood. Installing the plywood with every junction symmetrical and evenly spaced shadows is no easy feat (particularly how the sheets come out of a timber yard….)
Floor covering – Burned finish concrete – Came up a treat!
Note for Kate Patterson:
“Modern take on a traditional garage structure;
Its located in view of the house, so I felt it needed to be sculptural in form and ultimately sit comfortably as part of the larger garden and pool design;
Designed with maximum storage and flexibility for a growing family with a camper trailer, bikes and much much more;
Finely detailed by ADD;”
Background on Tykon:
We “Pete & Wood” are a couple of 30 year olds who went to High school together. We took the plunge to start a building company after working as Site managers for many years; with all of 2 cents in the account. Fast forward two years and we have a proud portfolio of work and 50% of our current work is referral.
We are loving it and eager to continue building with people to deliver art!
