1 Shot 22 is an exhibition of still works by pre-eminent and emerging Australian photographers that capture built environments in defining moments of time. A rare opportunity to view one-of-a-kind photography, the exhibition will be held in partnership with Sun Studios Melbourne for a limited time.

Held at Sun Studios Melbourne until the 16th of December, the 1 Shot 22 exhibition will include members from the recently established Image Makers Association Australia – a new organisation that represents local photographers. With an extensive array of captured moments from Australia and around the globe, the collection of work is the first of its kind and reflects on the buildings that surround and house us.

Following a directive to capture the defining point of a place, building or practice, 1 Shot 22 is a distinct experience for both photographers and guests. All contributing photographers are members of the Image Makers Association Australia, a newly formed association that works to protect the rights of professional photographers working in Australia. From images of buildings like the Lotus Temple in Delhi, India to a captured moment of a lonely caravan in Iceland, the images allow for viewers to reflect on the buildings that are homes, workplaces or entertainment venues.

Included in the collection is Katherine Lu’s ‘A Refuge’, which aims to recreate her vague memories of first moving to Australia. Referencing her past through imagery, Katherine takes the viewer on their own journey through time and fragmented memories of their early years. Commissioned to shoot a project for an Italian magazine, John Gollings captures a rare moment – an image that shows that kangaroos roam suburban streets in Australia. Alongside Kathrine and John, the exhibit features photography by Brooke Holm, Peter Bennetts, Cieran Murphy, Hilary Bradford, Sharyn Cairns, Emma Cross, Ben Guthrie and many more Australian photographers.
