Ear to the ground – Nine new felt colors by Acoufelt
Broadening the scope for aesthetic freedom within the realm of sustainable acoustic solutions, Acoufelt expands its award-winning WoodBeQuietTM collection. With the addition of six new colours, the functional alternative to timber panelling is more compelling than ever before.
Rooted in a deep understanding of both the textile industry and architectural landscape, Acoufelt crafts interior products that foster a pleasant – and widely beneficial – acoustic environment. Approximately 90% of human life is spent indoors; by making a genuine investment into the improvement of the interior experience, Acoufelt not only adds value to businesses, homes and institutions, it also changes the way people perceive the world for the better. Acoufelt’s unique ideological mission ‘Making Quiet’ is the result of the combined processes that allow the company to be established as a leader in its field: Leading Quiet, Humanising Quiet, Designing Quiet, Innovating Quiet and Simplifying Quiet. The operations include utilising the foremost global design talent and manufacturing processes; considering sustainability, human wellness and safety alongside colour, texture and shape; honing professional experience; pursuing technological advances; and simplifying the process of managing a soundscape.
All Acoufelt designs stem from a careful and uncompromising process of sourcing, where every fibre is considered. Sustainable practices of manufacturing are championed wherever possible, with raw materials sourced in coherence with the circular economy model. Following internationally recognised standards of production, Acoufelt uses years of manufacturing experience to create well-finished products that strongly enhance interior spaces; the consistent application of the latest cutting, bevelling and printing software and machinery ensures the highest quality.
WoodBeQuietTM embodies the success of Making Quiet. The year 2020 saw WoodBeQuietTM planks win a coveted Good Design Award in the Product Design, Furniture and Lighting category, recognising its superior design and inherent innovation. Acoufelt’s specialised QuietPrint printing technique enables the fibrous products to mimic the appearance of authentic wood grain whilst featuring impressive alternative characteristics. In contrast to real wood panelling, the acoustic planks achieve a minimum acoustic Noise Reduction Coefficient of 0.45. WoodBeQuiet™ planks are also made from 60 per cent post-consumer recycled material and are certified ‘Red List Free’ – meaning they are free from unsafe, polluting materials. Each carton contains 15 planks, the average equivalent of 324 600ml recycled plastic drinking bottles diverted from landfill. In addition, the products are produced using 40 per cent solar energy – honed through solar panels on the factory roof – and can be recycled at the end of their use.
Venturing further into the aesthetics of wood, six new colours – Antique Chest, Board Walk, Charred Larch, French Bobbin, Loft and White Elm – join the WoodBeQuietTM collection. Printed using high-resolution scans of real wood, each plank in a carton features its own distinct grain, expressing an unparalleled commitment to authenticity. Years of research informs the colour selection, seeing Acoufelt carefully monitor forecasted design and colour trends using the latest industry forecast platforms and a wide network of professional influences. Across the range, the planks are expertly shaped and bevelled, emerging with all the visual nuances of real wood.
Revolutionising the creation of a soundscape, Acoufelt produces a design-led interior solution with acoustic relevance. Sustainable, considered and incredibly well-crafted, WoodBeQuietTM is a collection for the future, available now.
