Articolo Studios launches The Vessel Edit, a curated series of signature Articolo pieces, purposefully tailored for yachts and nautical environments.
After a decade of creating elevated design objects for homes and commercial spaces, Articolo Studios is steering a new course, launching light fittings with careful anchors and concealed fixings for yachts and the marine milieu. The Vessel Edit carries the same hallmarks of the studio’s work – sophisticated engineering melded with elevated design aesthetics – into a new market.
For Articolo Studios founder Nicci Kavals, the new range is a natural next step in the company’s evolution. “We have previously been specified into superyachts with pieces that are inherently suited to vessel conditions, requiring no additional fixtures due to their robust engineering,” she says. “However, tailoring a series of fixtures to be suitable for yachts and marine environments allows us to launch The Vessel Edit as a new category and expand into a market we haven’t been in before. And we’re really excited about both launching the range and adding to it in the future.”
The collection blends beauty with functionality in a series of sleek pendants and sconces that work for both interior and exterior application. Concealed anchors, custom arms and discreet fixings make them “inherently suited for the demands of a nautical environment,” says Kavals.
Those demands did play a significant role in the design process and material selection. “Saltwater environments are unforgiving. This meant we had to undertake rigorous testing of the fixtures to withstand the extreme climatic conditions and endure elemental environments.
“The brass and bronze fixtures are finished in an electrophoretic clear coat which is the most durable ceramic clear coating available globally, providing a protective layer that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The coating gives excellent protection against corrosion, which is crucial for preserving the lifespan and appearance of the metal fixtures.”
