Nostalgic Whimsy – Bellini by Coco Flip
Imbued with the same playful integrity that characterises all their pieces, Coco Flip’s new Bellini furniture collection epitomises considered craftsmanship at its best.
Since 2010, Melbourne design duo Kate Stokes and Haslett Grounds of Coco Flip have been creating carefully considered furniture and lighting that embodies serious design with a streak of light-hearted whimsy. The brand’s latest collection, which launches this month, is no exception.
The Bellini range is an ode to European summers and evokes the feeling of languid days spent soaking up the Italian sun, drink in hand.
Named after the classic cocktail, which was invented at Harry’s Bar in the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, the Bellini range is an ode to European summers and evokes the feeling of languid days spent soaking up the Italian sun, drink in hand. It comprises compact and elongated bench seats, side tables, coffee tables and low and high stools.
The undulating trim and legs are powder-coated steel – available in Black or Paperbark – topped by either a thick-veined corduroy, American oak timber, blackwood timber or travertine. The fabric, by Kvadrat Maharam, comes in a muted palette, including Oleander, an undercooked olive green, Oracle, a soft powder blue and the subtle ochre tones of Mikado. Beyond these standard sizes and finishes, Bellini can be customised to suit myriad residential and commercial applications.
Like everything Coco Flip creates, Bellini reflects a deep commitment to sustainable practices and meticulous craftsmanship; the company is a member of the globally recognised environmental collective 1% for the Planet. Since its inception, the brand has collaborated with skilled local craftspeople and conscious producers and manufacturers, working in limited quantities with longevity in mind. “We believe a considered purchase is a purchase for life,” says Kate.
Coco Flip will be launching the Bellini furniture collection at a pop-up preview. Explore the range on Friday, 27 October from 10am to 6pm and Saturday, 28 October from 10am to 4pm at 43 Derby Street, Collingwood, Melbourne.
