Using a bold approach to colour and subtle textures, Bronte Beach House is a heightened coastal home that engages both its inside and outdoor spaces. Tom Mark Henry refines the interior through the use of rich materiality and layering the home with sculptural elements that enhance the surrounding landscape.

Aligned to the distant coast, Bronte Beach House is an open reminder of its place – generous openings and glazing connect the interior with the surrounds and flank the home’s façade. The multiple-level residence optimises its elevated positioning by directing views out and develops a series of internal spaces that reflect the home’s various functions. Interacting with incoming natural light, the home emphasises the illumination through materials and a neutral palette. Tom Mark Henry carefully sculpts the interior to become a clear reflection of the outdoor lifestyle of Sydney that also welcomes aspects of retreat and relaxation.

Bronte Beach House sees a series of organic and textural finishes combine to create both a dynamic contrast and consistency throughout the various spaces. Whilst the upper levels reflect a softness with lighter whites, muted stonework and timber, the lower level is cocooned in warmth, allowing the owners a place of comforting retreat. The creation of this contrast ensures both the connections outward and between the internal spaces are equally championed.

Throughout the home, various tones of timber are combined with muted greens and blues and neutral finishes provide the perfect base for customisation. Creating a feeling of calm and disconnection, reflective and textural elements provide a natural touch and echo the ebb and flow of the ocean. The home is a reflection of the surrounds, aiming to bring elements in from the outside through palette, materiality and form. The approach is one of intentionally blurring the boundary between inside and out, allowing visual connections to continue out into the landscape and beyond.

Through a richness in texture and finish, Bronte Beach House becomes a fusing of the traditional coastal approach with a more modern interpretation. With a focus on quality and enduring forms, Tom Mark Henry ensures the home is a robust and calming oasis able to be enjoyed into the future.
