Stand-out design is about the interplay of elements – no single component can be considered in isolation, and there is always a richly layered dialogue between materials. To allow those who work in the built environment to experience and understand this interplay, Est Lighting and Surface Gallery have launched a new Brisbane showroom.

The bold, 400-square-metre showroom in Newstead has sprouted from the fertile ground of Brisbane’s burgeoning design scene. To cater for this increasing demand, the two brands have delivered a game-changing space. By combining Est’s range of architectural and decorative lighting with Surface Gallery’s curated selection of stone and tiles, the showroom sets a benchmark in design innovation, providing a new level of visual and tactile exploration.

The creative vision of DKO, the showroom is an immersive retail experience that gives designers and their clients an unprecedented insight into the effect of lighting and material combinations. Walking in through the generously glazed entrance, one journeys through a series of ‘moments’.

These carefully designed sets include a range of materials, from textured walls and concrete floors to a commanding stone kitchen island, and the featured lighting has been installed to show how it impacts surrounding materials: think an interplay of light and shadow, glitter and glow against true-to-life surfaces.

Generous gathering spaces allow for both larger-scale events and more intimate interactions, grounding the showroom in a sense of both creativity and community. While the showroom’s primary aim is to allow designers to experiment with lighting and surface configurations, additionally it provides a space to explore and converse with knowledgeable professionals.

The showroom proudly champions Australian design, showcasing the best in local lighting and interiors.

Surface Gallery, meanwhile, features a curated collection of quality finishes, thoughtfully sourced from leading global suppliers and artisans. The ranges span natural stone, porcelain, mosaics, terrazzo and architectural cladding, each selected for its versatility, durability and timeless appeal.

The space is not only a hub for leading brands but also a place where considered, made-to-order design is celebrated.

A refined selection of Novas tapware is also on display, adding depth to the showroom experience and highlighting a brand both companies are proud to align with for its quality, integrity and design-led approach. Alongside these partners, bespoke pieces by Aldini feature throughout the showroom – from custom joinery and stone basins to unique furniture elements – underscoring the space as not only a hub for leading brands but also a place where considered, made-to-order design is celebrated.
