Cassina introduces its 2026 Outdoor Collection, crafted to transform alfresco spaces into ultra-stylish oases of comfort and repose.

Encompassing a new range by its art director Patricia Urquiola as well as reimagined archive pieces by Gaetano Pesce and Vico Magistretti, Cassina has launched its 2026 Outdoor Collection, Oasis of Now. The Italian furniture powerhouse – whose range is available in Australia through Mobilia – describes Oasis of Now as a concept that allows for “introspection, tranquillity and intimacy, [and] a slow life, embraced by enveloping forms”.

“Vidalenta juxtaposes the welcoming softness of the upholstered parts and the disciplined rigour of its structure.”

Urquiola’s Vidalenta system comprises a range of modular seating options that embody the kind of informal alfresco style beloved by Antipodeans. “Built upon a finely calibrated balance, Vidalenta juxtaposes the welcoming softness of the upholstered parts and the disciplined rigour of its structure,” says the designer. “Its signature feature is the soft, voluminous cushions that rest with natural ease upon a base composed of slender metal tubing, characterised by a particularly eloquent constructional precision.”

Options include two- and three-seat linear sofas and a modular corner piece, three armchairs, an upholstered bench, two chaise longues that can be paired to form a spacious daybed and a sunlounge. The collection also features dining, side and coffee tables in multiple dimensions, all featuring a characteristic fluted leitmotif. They feature tops crafted from Roman travertine, enamelled glass or solid iroko timber.

Cassina has reinterpreted Vico Magistretti’s classic Novetrenta armchair and two-seater sofa for the 21st century – and the outdoors.

Cassina has reinterpreted Vico Magistretti’s classic 1966 Novetrenta armchair and two-seater sofa for the 21st century – and the outdoors. The armchair is available in two models, including a seat variation in woven polypropylene cord that pays homage to the original’s straw construction. The supporting structure is in iroko timber, either in a natural finish or in an open-pore matte lacquer.

The second archival piece is a considered update of Gaetano Pesce’s visionary Dalila armchair, reviving two of the three models he created in 1980. Adapted for the rigours of outdoor living, the chairs feature sinuous shapes, with seating made from flexible polyurethane foam coated with a thin coloured elastomeric layer. The colour palette – blue, beige, red and green – works in harmony with the entirety of the 2026 collection.

Stockholm-based Italian industrial designer Luca Nichetto was tasked with reimagining Cassina’s Torei range of low tables. Nichetto’s rethink retains the sculptural character of the original, in two new variations – a black or white stainless-steel base topped with glazed porcelain stoneware tops, in circular, square or rectangular forms; and a solid volume crafted entirely from porcelain stoneware. The palette ranges from subtle shades like Ash Grey and Moss Green to more vibrant iterations such as Amaranth Red and Cobalt Blue.

Also featured is an alfresco version of Rodolfo Dordoni’s Eloro range, brought to life by Dordoni Studio. Eloro Outdoor comprises an armchair, two- and three-seat sofa and a chaise longue, all with updated materials, dimensions and construction details. Generous cushions introduce deeper levels of comfort, with the backrest pieces secured to a panel made from a new material which, while echoing the saddle leather of the original, is waterproof and resistant to UV radiation.

Oasis of Now also introduces a fresh selection of fabrics in original colours and patterns, along with new lighting and rugs, all contributing to the collection’s stylistic language and reflecting Italian design at its very best.
