Situated across from Manly Beach in Sydney’s north, the headquarters of property specialist Clarke & Humel is far from a conventional office space. Instead, the light and relaxed interior by Squillace draws one in.

Surrounded by coastal views, the interior features executive offices that open out to a balcony, drawing a connection with the site’s surroundings: the form of the ocean waves helped to inform not only the layout and furniture but also the space’s elevated presence.

There is a cohesiveness within the space; from the blue kitchen cabinets to the peach walls and pink tiles, each tonal element has been selected with purpose.

Curved features – such as the light fixtures, joinery and the archways – are offset by sleek lines. The bathroom spaces feature rounded mirrors and the reception desk is similarly curved; it’s this reasoned approach to form and function that gives Clarke & Humel HQ an easy sense of luxury.

These smooth, rounded motifs are complemented by a natural materiality. The coolness of the polished concrete flooring is juxtaposed against natural textures such as bamboo wall cladding and linen drapery. The cladding brings with it a natural warmth that readily aligns with the Northern Beaches setting. Victorian ash-framed glazing is featured throughout, providing a soft casing to meeting rooms and office space. Coloured stone with vibrant graining further connects to the material palette while also speaking to the interior’s tonal scheme. The HQ’s colour palette is evocative despite its restrained nature. Gentle and warm tones are injected throughout with hues of terracotta, blush, powder blue and beige. There is a cohesiveness within the space; from the blue kitchen cabinets to the peach walls and pink tiles, each tonal element has been selected with purpose.

Poised with an undeniable charm, Clarke & Humel HQ captures a natural essence that is difficult to craft. With subtle textures and a relaxed opulence, the interior space offers an open, elegant invitation.
