Elevating Summer – Country Road’s Latest Home Stylebook
The collections showcased in Country Road’s latest Home Stylebook offer an effortless way to immerse yourself in a quintessentially Australian summer.
Marked by natural tones, soft textural accents and the romantic craftsmanship of ceramics and glassware, the three collections – Summer Home, Outdoor Dining and Beach Picnic – imbue warmth and leisure in every sense. The primary inspiration for the latest releases revolves around the idea of welcoming summer, with a subtle palette. “For Summer Home, we went for a sophisticated neutrals palette with plenty of texture,” says Ty Symonds, General Manager for Country Road Home. “Sand and natural are perfect summer tones which we have highlighted with accents of apricot, pink salt, hazel, raisin and metallic silver.”
That’s evidenced in the Halle Tablecloth, which is woven using a blend of cotton and linen with a timeless striped pattern and subtle tonal variations. The Mila is a textural cushion hand-woven in India using 100 per cent cotton, while the Noni Bed Linen range is a soft cotton-linen blend in a yarn-dyed gingham pattern. “The gingham bed linen in pink salt is designed to sit back with the textured scatter cushions, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including bolsters,” says Ty.
The palette works alongside soft textural accents of waffle weaves and handwoven designs. The approach is mirrored in the outdoors collections, but with a slightly brighter aesthetic. “For outdoors, we took the palette to the brighter end of the spectrum, including a range of pomegranate, musk pink, limoncello and chocolate tones,” says Ty. “Beach towels and the picnic ranges bring this palette to life with a sense of optimism and joy for summer.”
Ceramics are defined by hand-dipped glazes – like the Apollo stoneware range, hand-dipped in a reactive glaze to give off beautiful contrasting accents – while the fluted glassware is funky and modern. “Our ceramic serving ranges have been designed to suit both indoor and alfresco dining, supporting effortless style when entertaining this summer. Our cocktail glasses are eclectic and fun, perfect for summer parties by the pool, and certainly for having out on display and not hiding away in the cupboard. We kept in mind that a lot of people are using bar carts or dedicated open shelving in the dining area or kitchen for cocktail glasses and accessories.”
These pieces sit beautifully in any space. “Our new ceramic canisters, for example, are designed to sit out on the kitchen bench … their snow-white colour suits a range of styles from contemporary to classic.”
